ABOUT US

As its name suggests, BalkanKiwi has a New Zealand connection. Founder and chief executive Frank Quin was a business lawyer in a major New Zealand law firm when he first visited Bulgaria in the summer of 1994. And began a love affair with this little Balkan country which continues to this day. A year after that first visit, Frank gave up on corporate law practice and started to make regular visits to Bulgaria. After a period of legal and business consulting work in Bulgaria and elsewhere in Europe, Frank saw the need for a trustworthy and experienced property finding service for the many British and other foreigners interested to purchase property in Bulgaria. Having traveled to many different parts of the country, Frank chose to centre BalkanKiwi in the central Balkan region.

Frank QuinFrank has over the past 12 years built up a vast knowledge of Bulgaria, its history, culture, people and way of life. He speaks Bulgarian and can present you, the property buyer, with unique insights into the country. And he’ll do it without fear or favour, not shying away from unpalatable truths you need to learn but with a long-held affection for Bulgaria “warts and all”.

Lynda QuinFrank’s wife Lynda is based in Devon, England, and provides a UK point of reference for BalkanKiwi’s clientele. Lynda’s friendly, no-nonsense style will reassure you that when you choose to use BalkanKiwi’s services you’re in the best of hands, both at home and in Bulgaria.

BalkanKiwi has a small but dedicated band of Bulgarian staff based in the picturesque central Balkan town of Troyan, just two and a half hours drive east of Sofia. We have a business tie-in with an office services bureau called BalkanReklama, situated right in the centre of Troyan, which offers photocopying and other document services, fax and email, local advertising and the like.

Executive assistant Stanimir (Miro) Stoikov is a native of Troyan and over the past few years has built up a wide knowledge of the rural/village property sector in the central Balkan region. Miro will find what you’re looking for. And he’ll be helped in that task by the administrative inputs of Zornica Stoikova (his sister) and the wide local knowledge of Snezhinka Stoikova (their mother), a journalist in the former times with wide-ranging contacts in the central Balkan region.

And of course BalkanKiwi will work with real estate agencies in Bulgaria in its quest for your chosen property. But there will be no financial tie-ups – BalkanKiwi will act for you and only for you the buyer.
